Finally the Ravens get an NFL QB

Steve McNair has joined the Ravens and instantly makes them a division contender as long as he stays healthy.  McNair is a clear upgrade over the sorry Kyle Boller.  McNair will be re-united with his favorite receiver in Tennessee, Derrick Mason.  McNair will have a good receiving corps to throw to in Baltimore as the offense could be dynamic if McNair has some gas left in the tank.

McNair has played in 139 games in his career (131 starts) and has completed 59.5% of his passes for 27,141 yards, 156 TD passes and 103 interceptions for a career QB rating of 83.3.  McNair doesn’t run as much as he used to, but he still is an effective runner.  For his career, McNair has rushed for 3,439 yards (5.6 ypc) and 36 rushing TDs.

Kyle Boller has been given his chance and he blew it.  If anything happens to McNair, the Ravens will have a bad offense.  Boller has started 36 games (34 starts) and completed 55.6% of his passes for 5,618 yards with 31 TD passes and 32 interceptions for a career rating of 69.2.  Boller has the look of a career back-up.

Steve McNair cramming for test

Blogged under Extra, Extra, Ravens News Here by ravenhater on Sunday 16 July 2006 at 9:20 pm

Steve McNair is cramming the playbook with Jim Fassel and Brian Billick.  Fassel and Billick came to Baltimore with offensive credentials that they thought would help Kyle Boller, but Boller just plain stinks.  McNair will have to stay in one piece for the Ravens to have a decent season and Fassel and Billick’s jobs hang in the balance.

Two more reasons Steeler fans suck (and many more to follow)

Blogged under Front Page,Why Steelers fans Suck by ravenhater on Friday 14 July 2006 at 10:06 pm

Death threats were made against the 62 year old woman that made a left hand turn in front of “Big Ben’s” motorcycle.  These people in Pittspuke really need to get out of the house more……do they think she did it on purpose?  That’s why it’s called an accident……MORONS!

The second reason is the tailgating at the hospital “Big Ben” was at.  Doesn’t anyone in Pittspuke have a life?

Ravens betting angle…..

Blogged under Front Page,If I Were a Betting Man by ravenhater on Friday 14 July 2006 at 9:36 pm

The Ravens have dominated the Oakland Raiders for awhile now.  The Ravens have covered in six of the last seven meetings, including the last three in Baltimore.  The Raiders are breaking in Aaron Brooks who has a penchant for throwing the ball up for grabs when he feels the heat coming, and I have no doubt the Ravens will be bringing it.  So week two, take the Ravens and laugh all the way to the bank.

Ryan LaCasse (7, DE/LB)

Blogged under The Draft Report by ravenhater on Friday 14 July 2006 at 9:31 pm

LaCasse is a super effort, high-motor player that always gives 100%.  He could be a steal in the 7th round as he was projected to go in the 2nd or 3rd round.  At 6-2, 252 pounds he has some size and is very quick (4.69 40).  LaCasse had 19 tackles for a loss, 14 sacks and forced 7 fumbles the last two seasons despite only starting 11 games.

Derrick Martin (6, CB)

Blogged under The Draft Report by ravenhater on Friday 14 July 2006 at 9:26 pm

Martin should have stayed in school for another season.  He looks like he should be a good player and he has the speed (4.42 40), but he has no instincts and will probably be a project that plays on special teams to start his career.

Sam Koch (6, P)

Blogged under The Draft Report by ravenhater on Friday 14 July 2006 at 9:22 pm

Koch was a decent punter in college but a wasted pick.  The Sporting News Draft preview ranked 10 punters and Koch didn’t make the cut.  The Ravens could have signed him as an un-drafted free-agent and used this pick on a position player.  The Browns stole their punter from last season and the Ravens were on “tilt” with this pick.

Quinn Sypniewski (5, TE)

Blogged under The Draft Report by ravenhater on Friday 14 July 2006 at 9:18 pm

Sypniewski is a big, tough run blocker at tight end.  Sypniewski is a mammoth 6’6”, 266 pound player that can’t seem to stay healthy and he has had multiple surgeries done to his body so far.  There were certain publications that thought he would go undrafted, but if he can stay healthy, he’ll help the Ravens’ running game.

Dawan Landry (5)

Blogged under The Draft Report by ravenhater on Friday 14 July 2006 at 9:12 pm

Landry has put up good numbers in college, but his speed at safety is seriously lacking.  NFL receivers will have no problem getting behind him, thus relegating him to a special teams player unless he gets faster.  When the play is in front of him he is a decent player as evidenced by his 242 tackles, 9 passes broken up, 7 interceptions and four fumble recoveries.  Landry will probably have to earn his money on special teams.

P.J Daniels (4)

Blogged under The Draft Report by ravenhater on Friday 14 July 2006 at 9:07 pm

P.J. Daniels is the type of in your face player that the Ravens like in their running backs.  Daniels was a workhorse in 2003 (1,447 yards rushing with 10 TD) but injured his knee part of the way through the 2004 season and hasn’t been quite the same since.  In his last 19 games (18 starts) he has rushed for 1,644 yards with 11 TD rushing.  Daniels, who played in the ACC has played against good competition in the ACC and loves to run between the tackles.  He is not the fastest back around, but he is tough and will start out as the #3 running back on the Ravens.
