Derrick Martin (6, CB)

Martin should have stayed in school for another season.  He looks like he should be a good player and he has the speed (4.42 40), but he has no instincts and will probably be a project that plays on special teams to start his career.

Sam Koch (6, P)

Koch was a decent punter in college but a wasted pick.  The Sporting News Draft preview ranked 10 punters and Koch didn’t make the cut.  The Ravens could have signed him as an un-drafted free-agent and used this pick on a position player.  The Browns stole their punter from last season and the Ravens were on “tilt” with this pick.

Quinn Sypniewski (5, TE)

Sypniewski is a big, tough run blocker at tight end.  Sypniewski is a mammoth 6′6”, 266 pound player that can’t seem to stay healthy and he has had multiple surgeries done to his body so far.  There were certain publications that thought he would go undrafted, but if he can stay healthy, he’ll help the Ravens’ running game.

Dawan Landry (5)

Landry has put up good numbers in college, but his speed at safety is seriously lacking.  NFL receivers will have no problem getting behind him, thus relegating him to a special teams player unless he gets faster.  When the play is in front of him he is a decent player as evidenced by his 242 tackles, 9 passes broken up, 7 interceptions and four fumble recoveries.  Landry will probably have to earn his money on special teams.

P.J Daniels (4)

Blogged under The Draft Report by ravenhater on Friday 14 July 2006 at 9:07 pm

P.J. Daniels is the type of in your face player that the Ravens like in their running backs.  Daniels was a workhorse in 2003 (1,447 yards rushing with 10 TD) but injured his knee part of the way through the 2004 season and hasn’t been quite the same since.  In his last 19 games (18 starts) he has rushed for 1,644 yards with 11 TD rushing.  Daniels, who played in the ACC has played against good competition in the ACC and loves to run between the tackles.  He is not the fastest back around, but he is tough and will start out as the #3 running back on the Ravens.
