Jamal Lewis to bounce back strong
I look for Jamal Lewis to bounce back strong this season. Last season was a rough one for Lewis as he was recovering from knee surgery, missed most of training camp (in prison for brokering a cocaine deal on his cell phone) and was keyed by every defense he played against (because Kyle Boller is awful). Move the calendar a year and Lewis is in Training Camp, with good knees and Steve McNair to take some of the pressure off of him. Last season Lewis rushed for a career-low 906 yards, it marked the first season in his five year career that he didn’t rush for at least 1,000 yards. Lewis will probably never return to the level he achieved in 2003 when he rushed for 2,066 yards, but he should easily go over 1,000 yards if both he and Steve McNair stay healthy.
Mike Anderson is more than an insurance policy. Last season, Anderson rushed for 1,014 yards and 12 TDs in Denver. Anderson is a mean, between the tackles runner very similar to Lewis in style. He also has played fullback and possibly could be in the same backfield with Lewis, which would cause nightmares for any defense.Â
Musa Smith is the third guy in line, mostly based on potential. He has only rushed for 79 yards in his career.
