The Ravens never had a chance in this game as the Seahawks took the fight to them.  Troy Smith had a rough time in his first NFL start.  He completed 16 of 33 passes for 199 yards with 1 TD pass.  He also carried the ball 6 times for 25 yards (4.2 ypc) and he lost two fumbles.  Willis McGahee left this game with injured ribs after rushing for 10 yards on 5 carries (2.0 ypc).  Mike Anderson (8 car, 44 yards) and Musa Smith (7 car, 25 yards) picked it up for McGahee.  Derrick Mason led the way for the Ravens in the passing game with 5 catches for 98 yards (19.6 avg) with a TD grab.  The Ravens finished up with 106 yards rushing on 27 carries (3.9 ypc) and they also completed 16 of 33 passes for 187 yards.

Miami Dolphins 22, Baltimore Ravens 16 in OT

Blogged under Bloglockers,Front Page,Game Recaps by admin on Wednesday 19 December 2007 at 3:34 pm

The Baltimore Ravens gave the Dolphins a nice gift for Christmas…….their first win of the season!  Kyle Boller didn’t have his best game as he completed 10 of 19 passes for 159 yards with 1 TD pass and 1 interception.  Troy Smith also got to play some and he was 5 for 11 for 49 yards.  Willis McGahee had a solid game as he carried the ball 29 times for 104 yards (3.6 ypc).  Derrick Mason led the way in the passing game for the Ravens with 4 catches for 45 yards (11.3 avg) with a TD grab.  The Ravens finished up the game with 163 yards on 36 carries (4.5 ypc) and he also completed 15 of 30 passes for 182 yards.

The Ravens defense was stout against the run but they couldn’t stop the Dolphins’ passing game.  Kelly Gregg (11 tackles, sack) and Bart Scott (8 tackles) led the way for the Ravens Defense in this game.  The Dolphins finished up with 72 yards rushing on 29 carries (2.5 ypc) and they also completed 23 of 39 passes for 288 yards.

Baltimore Ravens vs. Miami Dolphins

Blogged under Bloglockers,Front Page,This Week's Matchup Report by admin on Thursday 13 December 2007 at 12:04 am

These two teams really deserve to play each other because they both suck!  The Ravens have lost 7 games in a row after a promising start while the Dolphins are a hapless 0-13 on the season.

The Ravens will come out running the football in this game with Willis McGahee (1,093 yards rushing, 7 TDs) against a Dolphins team that is allowing 155.4 yards rushing per game and 4.4 yards per carry.  Look for the Ravens to keep the passing game short to the tight ends and Derrick Mason to try to avoid mistakes with the football which Kyle Boller tends to make on longer passes.

The Dolphins should just come out throwing the football against the Ravens who have problems in the secondary right now.  But Cleo Lemon must avoid challenging safety Ed Reed of the Ravens who has 6 interceptions so far this season.  The Dolphins would like to establish a running game with Samkon Gado but that will be easier said than done against a Ravens defense that is only allowing 77.4 yards rushing per game and 2.8 yards per carry.

PREDICTION:  BALTIMORE RAVENS 17,  MIAMI DOLPHINS 13

Indianapolis Colts 44, Baltimore Ravens 20

Blogged under Bloglockers,Front Page,Game Recaps by admin on Monday 10 December 2007 at 5:40 pm

The Ravens looked absolutely pathetic last night against the Colts as they were trailing 44-7 heading into the 4th quarter before the Colts called off the dogs.  The Ravens are reeling as they are now 4-9 and they have a 7 game losing streak.  Kyle Boller completed 19 of 25 passes for 132 yards with 1 TD pass and 3 interceptions last night.  He also carried the football 8 times for 33 yards (4.1 ypc) before he left the game on a coach’s decision.  Rookie Troy Smith completed 3 of 5 passes for 33 yards and he carried the ball 1 time for 6 yards and it was a TD run.  Willis McGahee had a rough game as he carried the ball 17 times for 45 yards (2.6 ypc) and he also caught 5 passes for 7 yards (1.4 avg).  Mark Clayton led the Ravens as he caught 7 passes for 90 yards (12.9 avg).  The Ravens finished up with 32 carries for 98 yards (3.1 ypc) and they also completed 22 of 30 passes for 145 yards.

Ray Lewis led the Ravens defense with 9 tackles.  The Colts finished up with 59 yards on 27 carries (2.2 ypc) and they completed 16 of 22 passes for 275 yards.

The Baltimore Ravens lose Steve McNair for the season

Blogged under Bloglockers,Extra, Extra, Ravens News Here,Front Page,Injury Reports by admin on Saturday 8 December 2007 at 9:54 am

The Ravens have lost Steve McNair for the season after he underwent successful rotator cuff surgery.  This explains some of McNair’s poor play of this season.  He played in 6 games this season and he was 133 of 205 (64.9%) for 1,113 yards with 2 TD passes and 4 interceptions.  He also carried the football 10 times for 32 yards (3.2 ypc).  McNair also lost 7 fumbles this season which is way too many.  McNair is likely done in Baltimore but is his NFL career over?  Only time will tell.
