Steve McNair looked broke down last season and Kyle Boller just wasn’t that good.  It’s quite possible that the Ravens might give the starting job to Troy Smith next season.  If they decide to go that way they will need a veteran backup just in case Smith isn’t ready.  Smith played in 4 games last season for the Ravens and he completed 40 of 76 passes (52.6%) for 452 yards with 2 TD passes and 0 interceptions (79.5 QB Rating).  He also carried the ball 12 times for 54 yards (4.5 ypc) with a TD run.

Steve McNair was firing blanks as his arm appeared shot……as well as his legs.  McNair played in 6 games last season for the Ravens and he completed 133 of 205 passes (64.9%) for 1,113 yards with 2 TD passes and 4 interceptions (73.9 QB Rating).  He also carried the ball 10 times for 32 yards (3.2 ypc).  McNair has now played in 161 games in his NFL career and he has completed 2,733 of 4,544 passes (60.1%) for 31,304 yards with 174 TD passes and 119 interceptions (82.8 QB Rating).  He also has carried the ball 669 times for 3,590 yards (5.4 ypc) with 37 TD runs.

Kyle Boller will also be on his way out as he has never progressed like the Ravens hoped he would.  Boller played in 12 games this season for the Ravens and he completed 168 of 275 passes (61.1%) for 1,743 yards with 9 TD passes and 10 interceptions (75.2 QB Rating).  He also carried the football 19 times for 89 yards (4.7 ypc) this year.  Boller has now played in 53 games in his NFL career and he has completed 746 of 1,311 passes (56.9%) for 7,846 yards with 45 TD passes and 44 interceptions (71.9 QB Rating).  He also carried the football 147 times for 440 yards (3.0 ypc) with 2 TD runs.
