Minnesota Vikings 23, Baltimore Ravens 15
The Baltimore Ravens looked bad on both sides of the football against the Vikings on Saturday Night. Troy Smith got the start against the Vikings and he didn’t play well. He completed 3 of 5 passes for 25 yards with 1 interception. He also carried the football 3 times for 35 yards (11.7 ypc) in this game. Kyle Boller also was pretty bad in this football game as he completed 8 of 12 passes for 40 yards with a interception. Rookie Joe Flacco was the most impressive QB of the night for the Ravens as he completed 10 of 15 passes for 74 yards. Rookie RB Ray Rice was the best football player on the Ravens in this football game. He carried the ball 8 times for 77 yards (9.6 ypc) with a 6-yard TD run. He also caught 3 passes for 17 yards in this game. WR Ernest Wheelwright led the Ravens in this game with 37 yards receiving on 5 catches (7.4 avg). TE Adam Bergen pitched in with 6 catches for 35 yards (5.8 avg) on Saturday Night. The Ravens finished up with 126 yards rushing on 16 carries (7.9 ypc) against the Vikings. They also completed 21 of 32 passes for only 111 yards. The Ravens only had possession of the football for 25:25 on Saturday Night and they won’t win any games that way.
Safety Dawan Landry and DT Amon Gordon led the way for the Ravens’ defense with 6 tackles apiece. CB Derrick Martin pitched in with 3 tackles and he intercepted a pass from John David Booty that he returned 22-yards for a TD. The Vikings finished up with 133 yards rushing on 38 carries (3.5 ypc) on Saturday Night. They also completed 19 of 38 passes for 206 yards. The Ravens have a lot to work on before September rolls around.
