The Baltimore Ravens sign Donte’ Stallworth

The Ravens have signed 29-year old WR Donte’ Stallworth to a 1-year, $900,000 dollar contract.  Stallworth didn’t play at all last season as he was suspended by the NFL for running over a man  and killing him while driving drunk in Miami last summer.  Stallworth last played in the NFL in 2008 with the Browns.  He played in 11 games for the Browns in 2008 in which he caught 17 passes for 170 yards (10.0 avg) with 1 TD grab.  Stallworth has now played in 95 games in his NFL career and he has caught 296 passes for 4,383 yards (14.8 avg) with 32 TD grabs.  This just goes to show that even criminals get second chances quickly in the NFL.  Still, it was a good gamble for the Ravens who could use some help at WR.

The Baltimore Ravens sign CB Corey Ivy

This was a smart move by the Ravens as Ivy knows the plays and he was also on the Steelers for one week which will help him provide a little insight on them.  Ivy played in all 16 games for the Ravens last season and he made 52 tackles, 1 tackle for a loss, 2.5 sacks, 1 forced fumble and 3 passes defensed.  Ivy has now played in 110 games in his NFL career and he has made 278 tackles, 5 forced 5 fumbles, 3 interceptions, 25 passes defensed and 9.5 sacks.

The Baltimore Ravens lose Matt Lawrence for the year

Blogged under Free Agent Additions, Bloglockers, Front Page, Injury Reports, General by admin on Friday 27 November 2009 at 1:24 pm

The Ravens have lost back up RB Matt Lawrence for the season due to a severe knee injury.  The 24-year old Lawrence played in 8 games for the Ravens this season and he carried the ball 4 times for 0 yards (0.0 ypc) and he also caught 1 pass for 4 yards.  Where the Ravens will likely miss Lawrence is on special teams as he had 8 tackles this year.  The Ravens have signed 25-year old fullback Charles Ali to replace Lawrence.  Ali played in 15 games for the Browns last season and he caught 4 passes for 13 yards (3.3 ypc).  Ali also made 2 tackles last season.

The Baltimore Ravens sign kicker Billy Cundiff

The Ravens have signed 29-year old kicker Billy Cundiff.  Cundiff played in 5 games for the Browns earlier this season and he was 6 for 6 on field goal attempts and he made all 4 of his extra points scoring 22 points for them.  Cundiff has now played in 63 games in his NFL career and he has made 66 of 89 field goals (74.2%).  He has also made 104 of 105 extra points to rack up 302 points in his NFL career.  This was a good move for the Ravens as Cundiff was kicking the ball very well for the Browns earlier this season.

Baltimore Ravens sign Super Bowl XLII hero David Tyree

Blogged under Free Agent Additions, Bloglockers, Extra, Extra, Ravens News Here by Andrew on Tuesday 13 October 2009 at 5:52 pm

The Baltimore Ravens signed wide-receiver David Tyree today and dropped tight end Tony Curtis.  Tyree had been with the New York Giants the last six seasons but they released him before the season started.  He came into the spotlight after making that crazy late-game helmet catch in the Giants Super Bowl XLII win.  The 29-year-old receiver has been battling injuries over the past year but is seemingly healthy now and ready to go.  Tyree will add some depth to the Ravens receiving corps, but he will probably make more of an impact on special teams.  In his career as a receiver, Tyree has played in 73 games with five starts and has 54 receptions for 650 yards and four touchdowns.  Tyree has appeared in 73 career games on special teams and has made 71 tackles (62 solo).
