The Baltimore Ravens acquire WR Lee Evans

Blogged under Bloglockers,Extra, Extra, Ravens News Here,Front Page,General,Trades by admin on Saturday 13 August 2011 at 1:23 am

The Baltimore Ravens have acquired 30-year old WR Lee Evans from the Bills for a 4th round pick in 2012.  Evans played in 13 games (all starts) for the Ravens last year and he caught 37 passes for 578 yards (15.6 avg) with 4 TD grabs.  He has now played in 109 games (102 starts) in his first seven years in the NFL and he has caught 377 passes for 5,934 yards (15.7 avg) with 43 TD grabs.  Evans will start at WR opposite of Anquan Boldin and he will give the Ravens a legit deep threat.  This was a great move for the Ravens.

The Baltimore Ravens deal Mark Clayton to the Rams

Blogged under Bloglockers,Extra, Extra, Ravens News Here,Front Page,Trades by admin on Monday 6 September 2010 at 10:06 pm

The Ravens have dealt 28-year old WR Mark Clayton to the Rams for future late round draft considerations.  Clayton played in 14 games (12 starts) last season for the Ravens and he caught 34 passes for 480 yards (14.1 avg) with 2 TD grabs.  He also carried the ball 4 times for 28 yards (7.0 ypc) last year.  Clayton played in 76 games (59 starts) in his 5 years with the Ravens and he caught 234 passes for 3,116 yards (13.3 avg) with 12 TD grabs.  He also carried the ball 25 times for 112 yards (4.5 ypc) with 2 TD runs with the Ravens.  The Ravens didn’t need Clayton anymore after signing T.J. Houshmandzadeh and it was good that they got something for him.

The Baltimore Ravens deal Antwan Barnes to the Eagles

The Ravens have dealt 25-year old OLB Antwan Barnes to the Eagles for a undisclosed draft pick.  Barnes played in 11 games for the Ravens last season and he had 13 tackles, 2 passes defensed, 3 sacks, 1 forced fumble and 1 interception.  In three years with the Ravens, Barnes played in 38 games in which he had 37 tackles, 3 passes defensed, 5 sacks, 3 forced fumbles and 1 interception.  The Ravens liked other young linebackers more than Barnes for this year so at least they got something for him.

The Baltimore Ravens acquire Josh Wilson from the Seahawks

Blogged under Bloglockers,Extra, Extra, Ravens News Here,Front Page,Trades by admin on Wednesday 1 September 2010 at 9:41 am

The Ravens have acquired 25-year old cornerback Josh Wilson from the Seattle Seahawks for a conditional 5th round pick.  Wilson played in 12 games (all starts) for the Seahawks last season and he had 45 tackles, 1 sack, 13 passes defensed and he had 2 interceptions which he returned for TDs (126 combined yards).  He played in 40 games (24 starts) in his three years with the Seahawks and he had 130 tackles, 2 sacks, 22 passes defensed and 6 INTs (261 return yards, 3 TDs).  This was another outstanding trade Ravens’ GM Ozzie Newsome as I wouldn’t be surprised to see Wilson starting at some point in 2010.

The Baltimore Ravens trade John Beck to the Redskins

Blogged under Bloglockers,Extra, Extra, Ravens News Here,Front Page,Trades by admin on Monday 2 August 2010 at 5:10 pm

The Ravens have traded 28-year old QB John Beck to the Redskins for 24-year old cornerback Doug Dutch.  Dutch didn’t get into any games for the Redskins last season spending most of his rookie year on the practice squad.  Beck didn’t get into any games in his time with the Ravens and he was expendable the minute they signed Marc Bulger to back up Joe Flacco.

The Baltimore Ravens acquire Anquan Boldin

Blogged under Bloglockers,Extra, Extra, Ravens News Here,Front Page,Trades by admin on Friday 5 March 2010 at 6:45 pm

The Ravens have acquired 29-year old WR Anquan Boldin and a 5th round pick in this year’s draft from the Cardinals for a 3rd and 4th round pick in next month’s draft.  Boldin played in 15 games for the Cardinals last season and he caught 84 passes for 1,024 yards (12.2 avg) with 4 TD grabs.  He also carried the ball 3 times for 12 yards (4.0 ypc) last season.  Boldin has now played in 95 games in his NFL career and he has caught 586 passes for 7,520 yards (12.8 avg) with 44 TD grabs.  Boldin has also carried the ball 36 times for 209 yards (5.8 ypc) with 1 TD run.  This was a outstanding move for the Ravens as they have gotten themselves a true #1 type receiver.  They know that because they quickly signed him to a shiny new 4-year, $28 million dollar deal.

The Baltimore Ravens trade Prescott Burgess to the Patriots

Blogged under Bloglockers,Extra, Extra, Ravens News Here,Front Page,Trades by admin on Wednesday 23 September 2009 at 1:52 pm

The Ravens have traded 25-year old OLB Prescott Burgess to the Patriots for a conditional 7th round draft pick.  Burgess played in both games for the Ravens last season and he has 2 tackles.  He played 3 years for the Ravens appearing in 10 games and making a whopping six tackles.  This will likely turn out to be a good trade for both teams.

The over/under for Baltimore Ravens wins in 2008 is six

Blogged under Bloglockers,Front Page,If I Were a Betting Man,Trades by admin on Thursday 4 September 2008 at 7:42 pm

I don’t see any scenario where I think the Ravens will win more than seven games.  I would bet the ranch on the under as rookie QB Joe Flacco is being thrown into the fire without much support on offense.  The Ravens’ once great defense is starting to get long in tooth and could start falling apart at any time now.  Next April the Ravens will be drafting very, very high!

The Baltimore Ravens acquire DT/DE Marques Douglas from the Bucs

Blogged under Bloglockers,Extra, Extra, Ravens News Here,Front Page,Trades by admin on Monday 1 September 2008 at 1:20 am

The Ravens have acquired 31-year old DT/DE Marques Douglas from the Tampa Bay Bucs for a late 2009 Draft Pick and a conditional one in 2010.  The Ravens acted quickly to replace injured Dwan Edwards and they hope that Douglas comes through for them.  Douglas played in all 16 games for the 49ers last season and he made 72 tackles, had 3 interceptions and defended 3 passes.  Douglas has now played in 88 games in his NFL career and he has made 339 tackles, has 19 sacks, forced 6 fumbles and he defensed 10 passes.  This was a solid move for the Ravens as Douglas should help the defense especially against the run.
