The Ravens have released 28-year old CB Domonique Foxworth.  Foxworth played in only 2 games for the Ravens last year and he had 2 tackles.  He played in 18 games in his two years with the Ravens and he had 55 tackles, 16 passes defensed, 4 interceptions, 1 fumble recovery and 2 tackles for a loss.  Some younger cornerbacks stepped up for the Ravens last year and pretty much took Foxworth’s job away.  He won’t likely be missed too much going forward.

The Baltimore Ravens use the franchise tag on Ray Rice

Blogged under Bloglockers,Extra, Extra, Ravens News Here,Free Agent Additions,Front Page,General by admin on Friday 2 March 2012 at 9:21 pm

The Ravens have used the franchise tag on 25-year old RB Ray Rice.  Rice played in 16 games for the Ravens last year and he carried the ball 291 times for 1,364 yards (4.7 ypc) with 12 TD runs.  He also caught 76 passes for 704 yards (9.3 avg) with 3 TD grabs last year.  Rice has now played in 61 games in his first four years with the Ravens and he has carried the ball 959 times for 4,377 yards (4.6 ypc) with 24 TD runs.  He has also caught 250 passes for 2,235 yards (8.9 avg) with 5 TD grabs so far for the Ravens.  This was a smart move for the Ravens as it locks up Rice for 2012, while buying them time to sign him to a long term contract.

The Baltimore Ravens release Lee Evans

The Baltimore Ravens release CB Chris Carr

Blogged under Bloglockers,Extra, Extra, Ravens News Here,Front Page,General,Leaving Town by admin on Friday 2 March 2012 at 3:10 am

The Ravens have released 28-year old CB Chris Carr.  Carr played in 9 games for the Ravens last year and he had 19 tackles, 1 sack, 3 passes defensed and 1 tackle for a loss.  Carr played in 41 games in his three years with the Ravens and he had 124 tackles, 2.5 sacks, 6 tackles for a loss, 5 forced fumbles, 4 interceptions and 15 passes defensed.  Carr also returned 38 punts for 285 yards (7.5 avg) and 15 kickoffs for 349 yards (23.3 avg) for the Ravens.  This isn’t much of a loss for the Ravens as other corners stepped up last year to push Carr to the bench.
